Birmingham, Alabama New Home Community Wins Best in American Living Award

Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) February 7, 2011

Ross Bridge, located in Hoover, Alabama was named a winner of the 2010 Best in American Living Awards (BALA). Ross Bridge won the platinum in the category of best community.

The BALA program, which is sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Design Committee, recognizes exceptional design and uses the example of these trend-setting designs to educate builders and improve residential design in all aspects of the housing industry.

The BALA winners were announced during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.

“The BALAs are the most prestigious awards of their kind, setting the benchmark for innovations in residential home design,” said Mike Nagel, 2010 Design Committee Chairman and Partner, MAW Chicago LLC. “We are proud to have a long history of honoring those who set the bar high by encouraging creativity, originality and imagination in our industry.”

In addition to this prestigious new home community award, Ross Bridge’s Dorothy Tayloe won the Silver Award for Best Sales Manager and the Community won the Gold Award for Best Signage.

Ross Bridge reflects the latest design trends in Traditional Neighborhood Design (TND), and aptly demonstrates that coastal areas and the big cities of the Northeast are no longer the only domain for TND and mixed-use communities. It has taken the decades-old “planned unit development resort community” concept and infused it with the latest in traditional neighborhood development design, creating a walkable community with a unique sense of place and a vibrant community spirit.

Now in its 28th year, the Best in American Living Awards program celebrates the most creative and innovative builders, designers, land planners and interior designers in the nation. Every year, BALA winners redefine excellence for the residential building industry. Major BALA categories include home design, room design and community development.

For additional information about BALA and a listing of all the 2010 award winners, visit “2010 BALA Portfolio,” an online publication that includes a review of design trends, and scores of images. Additional Information about the BALA program can be found at http://www.nahb.org/BALA.
