Summer Travel Deals Revealed as Vacation Rentals Provide Free Golf, Amusements, Fishing and More

Free golf rounds at GetMoreVacations.com

Destin, FL (PRWEB) April 27, 2009

Emerging as an economical alternative to hotels, vacation rentals appear to be an extraordinarily popular choice among travelers this season. As such, vacation rental companies are coming up with wildly creative incentives this summer season including discounts, two-for-ones, gas cards, grocery cards and the other enticements to motivate guests to book one property over another. While there is no shortage of websites heralding the deals available at various properties, comparing ‘apples to apples’ can be a daunting task. One website in particular, http://www.GetMoreVacations.com, has emerged from the pack as the go-to place for guests looking for incredible value-added rentals that feature free golf, deep sea fishing, horseback riding, water park admission, amusements and much more as a complimentary part of their stay.

“We’re taking the word ‘free’ back!” laughs GetMoreVacations.com Director of Marketing Kim Turner. “There’s no asterisk. No fine print. We’ve determined what the best things are to do in these areas and put them together for our guests to enjoy every day of their stay. There’s a place on the site where they can leave comments about their experiences with the programs and we’ve gotten hundreds of great reviews. That has been invaluable because, understandably, people are suspicious of free. Those reviews provide us with an unprecedented amount of credibility. We’re in our 14th year of providing all of this to guests. Our slogan is ‘Vacation Happily’ and we do everything we can to make that a reality for our guests.”

Guests can choose from 33 different professional property management companies representing over 10,000 vacation rentals in five different states, including Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, West Virginia and California.

The website allows travelers to choose a rental property either by destination or by the complimentary amenities they would like to enjoy on their vacation. Their Go Play page features twenty different activities to choose from and is as varied as any family with divergent tastes could ever hope to find. Guests can select properties that provide complimentary golf, white water rafting, amusement park tickets, an historic trolley tour and a local lake tour in Asheville, North Carolina or properties that include golf, water park admission, deep sea fishing, dolphin cruises, amusements and unlimited DVD rentals in Destin, Florida. The potential combination of destinations and activities are limitless.

Vicki Warner, regional marketing director for ResortQuest of Northwest Florida (featured on GetMoreVacations.com) observes, “Our guests have come to know ResortQuest’s ‘Passport to Fun’ complimentary amenities program provides them with extra value in the form of fun. Our guests are enjoying the thrill of watching dolphins play from the comfort of cruise boats, play in the splash of local water parks, and take pride in the deep sea catch of the day.”

“Some of our guests are on the links, enjoying their free golf before they’ve even set their bags down at their rental” muses Jeanne Dailey, owner and president of Newman-Dailey Resort Properties, another company featured on GetMoreVacations.com. “We call our program the FUNtastic Recreation Program and it gives families over $ 225 worth of free activities every day. Our returning guests look forward to it and this summer, I know they’ll be counting on it.”

GetMoreVacations.com was originally launched in April of 2008 and relaunched in April 2009 by Amenity Services Inc. (ASI) – the nation’s leading provider of amenity programs to vacation rental properties. These programs provide vacationing guests with daily complimentary golf, deep sea fishing, water parks, amusement parks, unlimited DVD rentals and much more. These give guests of vacation rental properties a more “all-inclusive” vacation experience by providing the best activities an area has to offer in one convenient, easy-to-use program. ASI was founded in 1996 and is based in Destin, Florida. ASI currently provides programs in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, California and West Virginia and has a large, rapidly growing client base of some of the most respected names in the vacation rental property management industry.

River Islands Plantation — An Upscale Waterfront Golf Community

River Islands Plantation — An Upscale Waterfront Golf Community

Union Grove, AL (PRWEB) November 21, 2005

Knoxville Tennessee’s latest upscale golf community offers awesome amenities.

Just as the name implies, River Islands Plantation offers the perfect combination of lush land and water front living.

Further enhancing that image is its idyllic placement between a premier golf course and a 450-acre nature preserve, while also fronting the French Broad River.

The brainchild of developer Greg Layman, River Island Plantation was named in conjunction with the neighboring River Islands Golf Club — rated one of the top public courses in Tennessee — and Seven Islands Nature Preserve, the largest wildlife refuge in the state.

“When you’re on the Lakefront property, you have the feeling that you’re back in nature,” Layman says. “It’s secluded and private, but you are still convenient to most of what people like to do in East Tennessee.”

River Islands Plantation is only 15 minutes from downtown and about 30 minutes from the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. The golf course and river are at the development’s backdoor, so those options for activities are close by, too.

Community amenities planned include a green space, common parking, a picnic pavilion and grills, a sand volleyball court, a playground and an interconnecting walking trail that links the development with the nature preserve.

Layman divided the neighborhood, comprising 185 choice acres, into more than 200 lots that are being sold in three phases to various builders. Phase 1 is still selling, and Layman has plans to open Phase 2 later this year.

Lots, ranging from 0.6 acre to a little more than one acre, begin in the mid-$ 40,000 price range. While various builders are welcome, restrictions are in place, says Layman.

“Houses must be at least 2,000 square feet,” he says. Other requirements include an exterior constructed of at least 85 percent brick and the review and approval of all plans by an architectural review committee.

Homes in River Islands Plantation are expected to begin around $ 300,000, Layman predicts.

Homes by Scott Hodges began construction August 2005 and will bring the total to four homes under construction, three homes are currently under construction by various builders within River Islands Plantation.

Hodges says this home plan was chosen especially for its lot in order to maximize the view of the river.

One of its key features is a riverfront view, and another is a backyard that borders a portion of the neighborhood’s planned four-acre green space.

Inside, the 2,413-square-foot house offers such details as 11-foot ceilings in the entry hall, 13-foot ceilings in the great room and French doors leading to a 25-foot covered deck. The kitchen has a river view via custom bay windows and a 90-foot wraparound porch.

The Venerable Shoal Lake Alabama Golf Course

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Shoal Creek in Birmingham Alabama is very much off the “beaten track” when it comes to golfing tournament play. Indeed, in terms of the sport of golf’s historical record, it was quite a surprise when the Professional Golfers Association (PGA), chose Shoal Creek to host their championship in 1984. Indeed this was the first time that any “Tour Event” had been held in the state of Alabama, then, since the 1960′s.

Overall it can be said that the Shoal Creek golfing course, at that point in time, was a relatively new one but had risen most rapidly in esteem and reputation. Good news and information about challenging and upcoming golf courses travels quickly in the duffer’s crowd, the serious golfers “grapevine”.

Why was this course chosen then? To put it simply , Jack Nicklaus , Hall Thompson , who after all was a Augusta member, had bought some land for a golf course and a select housing development some 25 miles ( 40 km) south of Birmingham Alabama , and looking for a course architect , was advised to try Nicklaus. Nicklaus not a legend yet, indeed was at an early stage of his future renown was taken physically to the site to help assess its merits. At that point the areas that would become the venerable Shoal Creek links were little more than a rocky and forested landscape – waiting for the golf gods to create and develop it to greatness.

The results contain many of Nicklaus past and even future golf links “trademarks”. Many of the shots are slightly downhill. The shot to the green always allows a most clear view of the flag. Another interesting if not standard and notable feature is that the entire pars 5 generally seem to all be over the 500 yards (460 meter) ranges. For example the 6′Th, at 554 long yards (507 m), is the longest. Highly rated tournament players can reach and cover this in two shots. The 11′Th hole is a good example of this. Anything short to the left, right or front will find the shallow, but broad creek of water. If not these challenging areas, you can bet that the sand bunkers will catch most of the shots that you play, that are not of the highest or most consistent quality.

On the whole courses, the par 4′s are perhaps the most severe as well as demanding “test”. Eight of these are over 400 yards themselves (335 meters), of which four are around 450 yards. Only one par 4 is shorter than 400 yards, the 14th. Yet this 14′Th hole is scarcely of drive and pitch length. On top of that there is a lake confronting the tee shot. Don’t count out the 4; Th hole. The black humor is that while there is not a single bunker on the hole, that Nicklaus placed a most challenging grassy hollow in front of the green area itself, reckoning that good players after all would find sand itself a lot easier to play from.

All in all it can more than said, that the reputation of the venerable golf links at Shoal Creek Alabama is more than deserved and well earned. A round of golf, or series of events played at Shoal Creek will long be held in the pleasant memories section of most in the golfing crowd lucky and privileged enough to play “Shoal Creek”.
