NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The family of a Marine killed in Iraq is asking for Senate assistance to pass a bill fixing a decades-old immigration law that has prevented his Japanese widow from living in the United States.

Herman Kritner was sent to Iraq in 2004 as a member of the Arab National Guard unit. He went to Iraq a year ago in June and – other than trips home – works as a contractor at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

Fairhope unit’s flag from Iraq dedicated at Legion
The flag that flew in Iraq carries the signatures of many of the local National Guard troops who served there. It was dedicated this week by the 1165th Military Police Co. to American Legion Post 199, along with a certificate of appreciation.
