Southern Waters Outfitters takes outdoor retail to the next level

Fairhope, Al (PRWEB) January 12, 2008

Southern Waters Outfitters, a regional outdoor and lifestyle apparel retailer has begun its planned expansion throughout the southeast United States.

After several years of honing their version of what an outdoor lifestyle shop can be, they plan to bring their concept to markets throughout the sun belt. A visit to one of their existing shops in Alabama and you’ll see that this level of retail has not been seen in the outdoor industry. Southern Waters prides itself in carrying only the finest brands in the business, such as The North Face, Patagonia, Napapijri, Kavu, Mountain Hardwear, Luminox and many others. President and CEO Richard Haag describes the difference, “Most outdoor retail shops lean more toward the look of a hardware store. We offer our customers a more finished and exciting experience, not unlike what Anthropologie did for women’s boutiques.” Step inside their prototype store located at the Eastern Shore Centre in Spanish Fort, Al and you’ll immediately see the difference that sets them apart. The look is “old warehouse” with exposed brick walls, stained concrete floors, mismatched antique tables, and very little in the way of “vendor

branded” fixtures, and of course their trademark antique 1963 Land Rover. Their latest store location is at “Grand Boulevard” in Sandestin, FL, which opened to rave reviews in December 2007. This store will be followed by another at “Pier Park” in Panama City Beach, Fl. slated to open in February 2008. Richard Haag explains, “We are planning on unveiling our new updated version of Southern Waters Outfitters at these two new locations, which will include lots of new goodies.” Their moves after these will have to stay under wraps for now, they will release the locations of their next stores only after they have secured the real estate. One other new thing that they love to talk about is their recently launched e-commerce site, http://www.southern-waters.com “We have kept it kind of low key and under the radar while we’ve been tweaking it these last couple of months, but we plan on a grand opening and launch party this holiday season,” says Haag. “The Sputnik Agency out of Victoria, Australia built it for us, and it is quite unique for our line of business. We wanted a site that would stand out from the rest and they delivered us just that. We are excited at the response and feedback thus far.” To find out more about this exciting company go to http://www.southern-waters.com .

AvaLAN Wireless Announces The Industry’s First FIPS 140-2 Level 2 High Security Integrated Wireless PTZ Dome Camera Housing

AvaLAN Wireless FIPS Certificate

Huntsville, Alabama (PRWEB) June 13, 2011

AvaLAN Wireless Systems, Inc., provider of long range industrial wireless Ethernet products, announced this week the AWD2-900S, a revolutionary wireless integrated PTZ dome housing for surveillance cameras with government validated FIPS 140-2 Level 2 encryption. This integrated system consists of a DotworkzTM Outdoor Dome Housing for a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) digital video camera. The housing contains an AvaLAN 900 MHz wireless Ethernet Radio combined with a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validated and certified encryption module. Also included is a special AW900xTR receiving unit that also contains a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validated and certified encryption module to complete the point-to-point link. Everything is included except the camera which gives the security integrator a multitude of IP camera options. The radio link provides 256-bit encryption and user programmable keys that are programmed through a separate USB control interface inside the units. The AWD2-900S inherits NIST Certification by using these approved modules. The AvaLAN radios are IP addressable with web browser based remote configuration and diagnostic tools built in. AvaLAN’s products offer the ideal combination of price, range, data rate, security, interference avoidance, quality-of-service, with a simple plug and play set up and minimal user programming required.

FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) Publication 140-2 is a government computer security standard that establishes the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) as a joint effort of the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Testing) in the USA and the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) in Canada. Security programs overseen by NIST and CSE focus on working with government and industry to establish more secure systems and networks by developing, managing and promoting security assessment tools, techniques, services, and supported programs for testing, evaluation and validation. FIPS 140-2 Security Level 2 improves upon the physical security mechanisms of a Security Level 1 cryptographic module by requiring features that show evidence of tampering, including tamper-evident coatings or seals that must be broken to gain physical access to the plaintext cryptographic keys and critical security parameters (CSPs) within the module, or pick-resistant locks on covers or doors to protect against unauthorized physical access.

“This new integrated surveillance camera housing includes government validated encryption that makes the wireless data communication certified secure,” said Matt Nelson, CEO of AvaLAN Wireless. “AvaLAN is proud to offer another product that clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to engineering innovation.”

AvaLAN is continuing their market leadership position by providing robust and reliable wireless solutions for security applications, access control, industrial automation, remote sensing and remote control markets. AvaLAN products are an ideal replacement for installations where WiFi systems are under-performing or failing completely due to insufficient range, excessive interference or unsatisfactory reliability. No other company can match the price-performance characteristics of AvaLAN’s products.

The new AWD2-900S 900 MHz High Security PTZ Dome Housing with Integrated Wireless Ethernet Radio and FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Validated Encryption is now shipping and available with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $ 2999 USD.

Experiencing a New Level of Service with Alabama Satellite Internet

Monday, July 5th, 2010

For many dialup internet customers around the country, there is some skepticism still about satellite internet options.  Can it really be a gigantic upgrade when compared to dialup service?  Unanimously, satellite users have reported a superior experience as opposed to dialup.  One problem is that not everyone knows how satellite internet in Alabama and all across the country can completely change the way you work online.  If you are used to the old system with the low bandwidth options, you might not even recognize some of the pages you encounter, as they will look totally new.  Here is how satellite internet in Alabama can make a huge difference.

1. You can keep the phone calls going.  Whether you like to talk on the phone the old fashioned way – receiver cradled on your ear – or you are more of a speaker phone person, you don’t have to forgo any conversation whiled you’re online.  Unlike dialup, there is no need for a landline to be occupied with satellite service.  If you are a trained in the art of multitasking or simply like to have a reference point while you chat, the amount of options are unlimited when you can do both at once.

2. Expect your speed levels to go off the charts.  Dialup is in many ways like a confused person – there is an awful lot of pausing and stopping in the midst of completing a thought.  Satellite broadband is more like your motor-mouth friend who seems to be talking about three things at once.  In other words, you don’t have to wait for the simple processes to take place.  In fact, you’ll end up spending a lot less time working online if.that’s your goal, or you’ll be able to complete so much more if you prefer to stay on.

3. Don’t sweat the big downloads.  When you need to get a download going on your computer but don’t have the bandwidth to make it happen, life can become more than frustrating.  Satellite service providers made this area one of their biggest concerns.  Instead of waiting minutes – perhaps many minutes – for a download to finish (if it ever does), you’ll be able to work almost right through the process.

4. Even uploads are not intimidating.  Perhaps the biggest problem with dialup has been the process of uploading files online.  Whether you need to get something back to a colleague for work or want to send multiple pictures to family and friends, satellite internet makes the process a lot easier.

5. You can spread the wealth around.  Many people have been concerned about switching to satellite only to end up waiting for people around the house to stop using this popular version of the internet.  You can keep multiple connections going, as long as your bandwidth amount supports it.  Check and see which plan will accommodate 2 or more people working at once.

There is no doubt that wildblue satellite internet is the best thing going in online services. Make the switch to wild blue in Andalusia, AL today.
