Alabama House District 102 Seat for State Representative may be in Danger for the GOP this Fall

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Mount Vernon, AL (PRWEB) August 2, 2006

A week after the republican primary runoff, a group of republicans from Semmes are dissatisfied with their republican nominee for the November Election for House District 102. A group of republicans who voted in both the primary and the primary runoff elections has endorsed democrat Gary Johnson for the November Election.

Mr. David Whitley a 52 year old from Semmes is leading a group of republicans that has endorsed Gary Johnson for State Representative over their own party nominee Chad Fincher of Tanner Williams. Mr. Whitley says he is unhappy with the republican nominee and believes he wouldn’t be an effective representative for District 102. Mr. Whitley has named his group the “Republicans for the Right Choice.” The group says they did not support Chad Fincher in the republican primary and will not in the general election. Mr. Whitley says Chad Fincher is to close to the Montgomery Insiders before he is elected and is not what he campaigns to be.

Mr. Whitley and his group of twenty or more republicans say they are happy to endorse Gary Johnson a moderate democrat, and encourage more republicans to do the same. Mr. Whitley contends that the future is very important for House District 102. This is the first time since I have been voting republican to buck against my own party, but Chad Fincher is not my choice or this group’s choice says Whitley.

I am glad to have this group of republicans on my side, and it’s great to know that they see the difference in my campaign and Mr. Fincher campaign. I am a real representative I care from my heart about the people and this district says Johnson. If elected District 102 will receive effective leadership. Gary Johnson states that he doesn’t know Mr. Whitley personally or any others of his newly formed group, but we have established a great friendship. “Mr. Whitley and his group is not the only group of republicans that is backing my campaign, I have been in talks with other republicans that didn’t support Fincher in the primary as well.”

Mr. Whitley and his groups are planning a fundraiser for Mr. Johnson campaign.
